National Dengue Day celebrated on May 16 with a motive to spread awareness about dengue among the population of India. The main agenda was to increase the prevention & control of dengue all across the nation.
India has become one of the countries with Dengue as a critical issue. Every year nation witnesses several deaths due to the dreadful disease. Mosquitoes are the main source of Dengue Virus which results in increased body temperature and other consequences.
Treatment of dengue is possible only if it is detected in time as the intensity of infection varies with time. Awareness of the symptoms of dengue-like high body temperature with rashes is required, the right advice on the right time can cure dengue easily.
We are at Risk of Dengue?
Dengue Fever is not restricted to any age group or gender, however, people with lack in their immune system are always prone to dengue and are at substantially greater risk than others with a higher immunity. People who were affected by dengue virus once develop more immunity towards the disease or maybe to a sub-type of the virus.
What causes Dengue?
Dengue is the name of the virus which causes Dengue Fever. Mosquitoes are immune to this virus hence the virus, it travels with mosquitoes and spreads the dangerous disease. Mostly female mosquitoes are responsible for carrying the virus, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus are the types of mosquitoes who carry the virus all around the globe.

Dengue can be prevented?
Preventive measures like controlling mosquitoes breeding and using proper ways to avoid mosquito bites. The tropical region needs more attention as people traveling to these regions are more under the threat of catching the disease.

- Use mosquito repellents
- Keep doors and windows closed during the evening at least from 6 pm to 9 pm, which is the most active period of mosquitoes.
